Treatment For Bleeding Hemorrhoids

Do you have hemorrhoids and saw traces of blood on the toilet paper after wiping your rectal area? Did you see blood on the toilet bowl after passing stools? Your hemorrhoids have started to bleed and it can happen on both internal and external hemorrhoids. This can be caused by passing of hard stools or wiping the rectal area too hard to too long. Natural home treatment is advisable and it can be done in several ways.

Applying pressure to the hemorrhoids using a clean toilet paper or cloth will cause the blood to clot. Bleeding will slow down then it will eventually stop. To prevent opening the wound, wear clean and loose cotton underwear, plain ones would be better. It will help absorb extra moisture which will help avoid irritation and pressure on the hemorrhoids.

Another way to stop the bleeding is to apply a towel wrapped ice pack to the hemorrhoids. The cold ice tightens blood vessels thereby slowing the bleeding. Just sit on it until the bleeding stops.

Astringents like witch hazel extract or aloe vera gel are also effective when treating bleeding hemorrhoids. Pour some of the extract or gel on cotton balls or clean pad then apply it directly to the hemorrhoids. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing the area to prevent further infection and irritation.

There are also hemorrhoid creams that are specifically formulated to stop bleeding hemorrhoids. For best results, look for creams that includes anesthetics and astringents. One word of caution, make sure you are not allergic to the cream by asking your doctor first.
