Hemorrhoid Medication

If you are suffering from Hemorrhoids, there are many different types of Hemorrhoids Treatment that are now available. Although surgical removal of hemorrhoids is an available option, it should be reserved for the most serious cases of hemorrhoids. There are less invasive procedures that are available for treating hemorrhoids, which are relatively painless, yet still very successful in treating most cases, including Rubber Band Ligation and Infrared Coagulation. Initially, however, there are various medications available for the treatment of the infrequent occurance of hemorrhoids. While most hemorrhoids are not serious, they can be quite painful and they can affect your day-to-day activities. Seeking treatment is very important if you are suffering from frequent bouts with hemorrhoids.

Anytime you have a Hemorrhoid, it is important to seek the advice of a qualified medical professional. They can help determine what may be causing the issue and they can prescribe specific hemorrhoid medication that will bring you relief. Since many of the medicines are only available by prescription, it is necessary to visit a doctor. They may also recommend other tests, such as colon cancer screening, to determine what the underlying cause of your hemorrhoids may be. These screenings are very easy, and do not take a lot of time. They can help your doctor determine whether or not you are at risk for colon cancer, or if your hemorrhoids are being caused by a specific condition.

Once these things have been ruled out, your doctor will prescribe the right kind of medication to treat your individual case. Most hemorrhoid medication is topical, which means it should be applied directly to the problem area. They usually come in the forms of ointments or creams. If the hemorrhoid is located internally, your doctor may recommend a suppository for relief.

These hemorrhoid medications are used to help treat inflammation and reduce the amount of pain and itchiness you are experiencing. These are the most common side effects of hemorrhoids, but they are easily treatable. Stool softeners may also be prescribed, since harder bowel movements may make hemorrhoids worse.

If the area is inflamed or there is any broken skin, your doctor may also recommend an antibiotic or anti-inflammatory. You will need to work very diligently to make sure that the area is kept clean to avoid an infection. It is also very important to avoid scratching at your hemorrhoids, since this can lead to broken skin and the increase of risk for an infection. For extreme pain associated with hemorrhoids, your doctor may also prescribe pain medication. However, most over the counter pain relievers are effective at treating this side effect of hemorrhoids.

No more itching or painful hemorrhoids. After suffering most of my life I found the solution on a trip to Thailand in the form of the bathroom bidet sprayers they use there. It is the ultimate in logical simplicity = it allows you to clean without rubbing or cleaning with soaps that irritate the skin and perpetuate the itching. I got mine at http://www.bathroomsprayers.com//index.php and I have not had a problem since. It also helps with diarrhea and constipation by allowing you to use it as a homemade colonic. All in the privacy of your own home and no one need know what you use it for. Enjoy, Jeff

I agree to you it is important to seek advice of a qualified medical professional, but hemorrhoids are not dangerous or life threatening. Symptoms of external hemorrhoids may include painful swelling or a hard lump around the anus that results when a blood clot forms. This condition is known as a thrombosed external hemorrhoid.
